Casa Kiko is a large house built in the 1990’s in the countryside just outside Turin. It was planned by my mother for my grandparents who lived there until 2006 and is located right next to my parents’ home where I grew up.

The house is now divided into three different parts: the part where I live together with my partner Fausto and our two sons Giorgio and Riccardo, my pottery studio Kiko Ceramica and the B&B Casa Kiko.

Inviting someone to our table means taking care of his happiness during the hours he spends under our roof.

There is a communal kitchen, recently renewed where breakfast and snacks can be taken during your stay. Meals can be eaten either inside the rooms or outside on the decking area under the pergola which is located outside the kitchen.

The B&B consists of three independent rooms of different sizes.

Rooms

The rooms are named appropriately, Silice (SiO2) , Allumina (Al2O3) and  Acqua (H2O).

The rooms are named appropriately, Silice, Allumina and Acqua,

minerals present in kaolin, the principal clay that porcelain is made of.

In the pottery studio, connected to the house, I use porcelain and stoneware (both very resistant clays fired to 1300 degrees C) to make my range of pottery for everyday use.

silice

a double room on the first floor with a large en-suite bathroom and a beautiful view and private balcony complete with a small table and chairs providing a great place for an outdoor breakfast whilst enjoying the magnificent view of the mountain Monviso as well as all the Graie and Cozie Alps.

allumina

a double room with an en-suite bathroom and an additional single bed if requested. The room is on the ground floor and has its own private access to the outdoor decking area under the pergola, complete with table and chairs for a relaxing breakfast. The hot tub and communal areas are nearby on the same level. The room has a large, high window that brings in a lot of light and connects to the second floor where you can see my porcelain art installation appropriately named ‘Flight’.

acqua

a double room with en-suite bathroom on the ground floor in the north-facing part of the house with a pleasant view of our vegetable garden. This part of the house is not quite as bright as the rest but is definitely very cosy and snug.

Baby travel cots can be arranged in all of the rooms

There is fully-functioning WiFi throughout Casa Kiko

The Pottery Studio

Kiko ceramica began in 2002, after several years in the UK where I studied psychology.

I have worked with clay for many years, I am basically a self-taught potter though time spent at the Meridiana International Pottery School (Tuscany) with Pietro Elia Maddalena gave me the courage and the final push to actually set up my own studio and become a craftswoman.

I have changed the location of the studio twice since the beginning of my pottery career. Clay has been very important for me and has helped me through some difficult times in my life, working with clay is therapeutic and it’s with this conviction and this spirit that I approach my job as a maker and a teacher.

During your stay here it is possible to book time in the studio and try your hand at either hand-building or the potter’s wheel.
This can be organized individually or as a group activity for the whole family, definitely a fun experience and one to remember!

Breakfast

Breakfast is served in picnic hampers either in the kitchen, in the rooms, or in the garden during the warmer months.
